I chose to explore the Early Childhood Development Virtual University (ECDVU) Sub-Saharan Africa websites:
http://www.ecdvu.org/ssa/index.php
http://www.ecdvu.org/ssa/major_reports.php
1.) What are some of the current international research topics?
On both websites, I did not see any current international research topics. I saw the ECDVU Sub-Saharan Africa: Mission Statement, a paragraph on Innovative Approaches to Education and Partnership, some publications, communities but no research topics.
2.) What surprising facts/insights/new ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international early childhood website?
The Early Childhood Development Virtual University is accredited. It is a training program offered online that offers web-based course work as well as face-to-face seminars.
3.) What other noteworthy information did you find on this website?
The website offers a page that has: Final Major Projects and Theses. This page lists many students name alphabetically, the country in which they live and a PDF file of their project/thesis. The courses offered are specifically for people in Africa.

Stacy,
ReplyDeleteI did look at this website also, and I was quite intrigued by the virtual university aspect. What do you think about it?
Deb
Stacy,
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious that research field in Africa is not really developed comparing to the rest of the world. However, it is interesting that Virtual University offers face-to-face seminars and training. Thank you for sharing information about it.
Stacy, I wonder why the website did not offer any research topics. I would think that Africa has a lot of research information. I can remember visiting some of the websites about Africa and found quite a bit of research that has taken place. Maybe it was just this particular website, because I did not choose to research this website I can not say.
